NT: What emerging independent brands are you loving right now?

JL: I’m absolutely loving Nia Thomas right now.

Nia Thomas’s pieces are handcrafted open-knit dresses and separates that feel simultaneously tactile and transcendent. Crafted to inspire confidence, each piece invites wearers to embrace their sensuality and inner power.

NT: Current song you are listening to on repeat?

JL: I go through phases with music, but lately I’ve had Q - Number One on repeat. Music is energy for me; I need it to set the rhythm of my day.

NT: Tips for combating productivity burnout?

JL: I’ve learned to honor my energy levels instead of forcing myself into constant output. I take breaks to breathe, go for a walk, or play with my daughter. Sometimes stepping away is what allows me to come back sharper and more inspired.

NT: What does productivity mean to you?

JL: It’s not about how many tasks I check off, it’s about moving closer to my vision. Productivity for me is being intentional, creating work that has impact, and still leaving space for living.

NT: If you could only go shopping in one city for the rest of your life, which one would it be and why?

JL: Paris. There’s no city that fuses heritage, craftsmanship, and modern edge the way Paris does. The boutiques, the vintage, the couture houses, it’s endless inspiration every time I’m there.

NT: How has your fashion sense evolved over the years?

JL: It’s become more defined and unapologetic. In my early years I experimented, but now my style is sharper, rooted in timeless pieces, jewelry, and tailoring. I’ve learned that true luxury is in how you carry it, not in how loud the logo is.

NT: A fashion trend you wish the girls would stop wearing?

JL: I don’t believe in policing anyone’s style. But I do wish people would stop following trends blindly. True style is when you wear something because it feels like you, not because it’s everywhere on social media.

NT: How does your personal style adapt when you're navigating the streets of New York versus what you wear when you are in Europe?

JL: In New York, my style leans a bit more functional, tailored pieces mixed with streetwear edge. When I’m in Europe, especially Paris or Milan, I allow myself to lean more into elegance, structure, and timeless pieces. Both sides are still me, just expressed through different environments.

NT: How do you balance staying true to your signature style while also accommodating the practical needs of motherhood?

JL: Motherhood actually sharpened my style. I don’t have time for pieces that don’t feel right or practical, so my wardrobe has become more edited and intentional. I stick to pieces that are comfortable yet powerful, jewelry, tailoring, and textures that still allow me to express myself while running around with my daughter.

NT: How has your approach to self-care evolved since your journey into motherhood?

JL: I’ve learned to redefine self-care as both small and sacred. It can be a skincare ritual, five minutes of silence, or just protecting my peace. Motherhood made me realize self-care is not a luxury, it’s a necessity, for me and for my daughter.

NT: Could you share your current reading list?

JL: Honestly, it’s all of Juma’s books these days, I don’t have much time left for my own reading anymore.

NT: Are there any local boutique brands that you like to shop in person in New York? Not e-comm shopping.

JL: To be completely honest, I haven’t shopped in person in years. My life moves at such a fast pace that I simply don’t have the time and I’ve learned to curate everything I need online, which actually allows me to be more intentional with my choices.

NT: Are there any wellness habits you’ve recently adopted that have made a big difference?

JL: Sleep hygiene. As much as I juggle, I’ve realized nothing works if I don’t rest. Also, I’ve started doing red light therapy at home, it’s a reset for my skin and my energy.

NT: What’s your favorite way to unwind and relax after a hectic day?

JL: Spending time with my daughter is the most grounding thing. After she goes to sleep, I love a hot bubble bath, a candle, and either reading or catching up on a series. I need both worlds connection and solitude.
